Don't Lose Focus on Your Mission

Today I'm going to let you in to what has been happening in my life. I don't want your sympathy. What I do want is for you to take a look at your life and to see that no matter what problems and challenges you are facing that there can always be something learned and shared to help others.

As many of you know I have a rare hereditary Blood disease by the name of Erythropoietic Protoporphyria (EPP) or Protoporphyria. My body has a toxicity reaction to light.  I used to have problems with the sun until this last year. Now I also have problems with Indoor lighting. Including a 60 watt bulb. Because of these changes I have had to resign from 2 jobs. One of which I have had for almost 14 years.

I now live my life inside a dimly lit room. I have gone through a time of hard acceptance of these new changes. I have questioned God about why. I went through a spell of deep depression just before Christmas. I have struggled with finding a Dr. that will treat me for my Porphyria. A while back I realized that know matter how bad things are that God is in control and He has a plan for my life. I decided to trust Him once again. I realized that some how God would use me to help others. The following experience reminded me of this.

This weekend I had an individual that has Porphyria reach out to me. We have had talks about what he is going through and I was able to share with this individual how I have been dealing with my Porphyria. They shared with me that this is something they have been struggling with. Their faith in God was damaged years ago. I'm not sure what God is going to do with this experience. I do know that there was a seed planted and a relationship that has opened a door of support for this individual and myself.

The point is that through all the hard times I've been facing and the limited lifestyle I now have I still have a mission and am not "useless".

I truly believe that no matter your circumstances God has a plan for you too. Keep your heart, ears and mind open as to how you can reach out to others. You will be surprised at how giving will fill your tank and replenish your soul.
