Sometimes in Life things can seem overwhelming. The loss of a Job, the loss of loved ones, Finances, Relationships. Many times these things tend to happen all at once, and quite frankly it can become a heavy burden on us.
So How does one keep from getting discouraged and overwhelmed during lifes challanges?
Without going into detail I can tell you that many times in my Life it has seemed like everything was going wrong, and it felt as if so many things were out of Control.
Here are some of things I do when I begin to get overwhelmed. First of all I remind myself that ultimately God is in Control.
And I ask myself a few simple questions:
Realizing that I can only do what I can for that day is my best tool. Keeping myself from thinking about the "what ifs" is also very important for me, I have found this to be one of my weaknesses. Being aware of it has helped me keep myself accountable.
We all have different strengths and weaknesses. Being aware of what yours are can help you to stay on tract. I recommend having a support person and/or Team that you can confide in and draw strength, wisdom and accountability from.
Do Not allow fear or shame to keep you from reaching out to others!
This is a Scripture that I refer to when I get in those times that Life seems to be throwing all fast balls at me.
Matthew 6:25-34 NIV
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life ?
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Know that you are loved and that these things are only temporary, and please if you feel overwhelmed reach out to a Friend, a Counselor, a Pastor or any kind of Support Group.
- "Is there something I should be doing differently?"
- "Am I doing the things that God would want me to do?"
- "What can I do today to help my situation?"
